Do you find yourself in a snack rut, buying the same snacks for your kids week after week? It can definitely be a struggle to come up with snack ideas so your kids don’t get bored. I don’t know how many times over the years I’ve heard the dreaded, “I don’t know what to have for a snack” despite grocery shopping a few days earlier.

In order to keep the kids happy at snack time, I have learned variety is the key. One of the ways that I have been successful in keeping a variety of low-cost snacks on hand is to make snack bins that I put in my pantry and refrigerator. I purchased different-sized bins at the dollar tree making organizing very affordable. Along with some chalkboard labels.

To cut costs, I buy the big bags/boxes of snacks and divide them into ziplock snack bags instead of buying the convenient but expensive prepackaged multipacks.  This is a great option if you are trying to save money on your groceries.

 Simple Snack Tips

  • Plan ahead for snacks- make sure your child is not eating a snack close to their next big meal, and allow about 2 hours in between so they are hungry at lunch and dinner.
  • Prep your snacks in advance- cut up fruits and vegetables so they are all ready to go. If you are looking for something to keep your fruits and veggies fresh, these containers work great.

This list of simple snack ideas for kids will provide inexpensive and fun options your kids will love and make snack time less stressful for you. You will find easy snack options, ideas for snack combinations, and creative recipes. Enjoy!
