It’s no secret that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Unfortunately, breakfast also occurs during the busiest time of the day…morning.
Mornings can be crazy busy as we rush around trying to get ourselves, and our kids ready so we can start work and get the kids to school on time. Due to this, breakfast gets skipped or we grab unhealthy foods instead and then regret our choices later.
Sadly, I will admit I was a breakfast skipper for many years. I would grab my morning coffee, get the kids ready for school and then start my morning routine. Breakfast just wasn’t a priority for me. Until a visit to the doctor confirmed I needed to start eating healthier and lose weight.
I realized by skipping breakfast, started a pattern of unhealthy eating habits because by lunch I was usually starving and this led to making poor food choices. Once I started making breakfast a priority every morning I started seeing all the benefits that it can provide.
Why is it so important to eat breakfast?
- Eating breakfast can give your metabolism a boost which can help you burn more calories throughout the day.
- It can improve your focus because it helps regulate your blood sugar.
- You are less cranky and tired because it gives you more energy, allowing you to be more productive.
- It prevents you from overeating at other meals.
I truly believe that starting my day off by having breakfast helped me achieve my weight loss goals and it’s one of the reasons I have been able to keep it off for the last few years.
But, while all of this is true, I realize breakfast time can be very hectic which is why I’m sharing quick and easy breakfast options that can be made in 5 minutes or less.
These 40 Quick 5-Minute Breakfast Ideas are not only delicious but perfect to grab and go when you don’t have a minute to spare as you are rushing out the door. Plus, they will keep you full all morning long and give you enough energy to last until lunchtime.

Breakfast ideas with Eggs
Breakfast Burritos
Burritos are one of my family’s favorite quick breakfasts. They are hearty, delicious packed with protein, and the perfect breakfast to take on the go.
There are many ways to enjoy a breakfast burrito. Of course, you can make them ahead of time and freeze them.

Another quick way to enjoy them is to add an egg to a small cereal bowl or mug (sprayed with cooking spray) and beat it with a fork until blended. Stir in salt and pepper to taste, a splash of milk, some shredded cheddar cheese (as little or as much as you’d like), and a slice of deli ham, cut into small pieces.
Microwave for 30 seconds, stir and put back in for 30 more seconds. Grab a tortilla shell and place it on top of the mug/cereal bowl. Cook for another 20-30 seconds.
When you take it out this time the egg mixture should be fully cooked. Carefully, remove the warm tortilla shell to a plate and spoon the egg mixture on top. Add some salsa and roll up into a burrito.
Alternatively, you can add pre-cooked bacon instead of ham. We have even microwaved a frozen sausage link for about 30 seconds and added that to the burrito before rolling it up.
Egg Sandwich
This egg sandwich is so quick and easy to make. But, the best part of this 5-minute sandwich is that it can be completely customized to your liking.
Start off by toasting an English muffin (or bread if you prefer) and then crack an egg into a mug. Season with salt and pepper and beat with a fork.
Microwave for 30 seconds, stir, and then microwave for an additional 30 seconds. Add a slice of deli ham and a slice of cheese over the top and microwave for an additional 20 seconds or until cheese is melted.
Carefully, remove from the microwave and place the egg on your toasted English muffin to enjoy.
Avocado toast with egg
If you are like me and love avocados then you must add this to your list of quick breakfast ideas to make on busy mornings.
Avocado toast with an egg is such a hearty and satisfying breakfast option with whole grains, healthy fat, and protein. It’s the perfect meal to start your day.
To make avocado toast with egg, simply toast two slices of whole wheat bread. Then, scramble some eggs with salt, pepper, parmesan cheese, and a splash of milk, either on the stove or in the microwave.
While the eggs are cooking. Mash a whole avocado with salt and pepper in a dish, add to toast, drizzle some hot sauce over the avocado and then top with scrambled eggs with cheese.
Breakfast quesadillas
We love quesadillas in our home and load them up with meats, cheese, and veggies. You can enjoy this tasty dish for breakfast by simply adding some scrambled eggs to the mix.
In order to make these quesadillas as quickly as possible, you can use your microwave to cook the eggs, meat, and cheese. Also, soften the vegetables before adding them to your tortilla shell.
Spread your egg mixture on half of your tortilla shell and then fold it closed. Add to a warm skillet and cook over medium heat until the tortillas shell is golden brown and crispy. Serve with salsa and avocado slices if desired.
Grilled egg, salami, and cheese sandwich
My oldest son loves making egg sandwiches and has experimented over the years to come up with the best-grilled egg and cheese sandwich. This easy sandwich takes about 5 minutes to make and can be customized with any meat that you like. We enjoy it with ham or salami.
To make this tasty sandwich, crack an egg into a buttered skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Once your egg is fried add between two buttered slices of bread with salami and cheese.
Then just cook until golden brown just like you would cook a grilled cheese sandwich. It comes out gooey and delicious.
Egg in a hole
There is nothing quicker than an easy egg in a hole sandwich. When you are short on time but want a hot protein-packed breakfast this would be a great option.
To make this sandwich, heat a buttered skillet. Use a round cookie cutter or turn a cup upside down and press into the center of the bread to remove a circle. Place bread in the skillet and crack one egg into the hole.
Let cook for a minute or so and then flip over and cook on the other side until done. Season with salt and pepper.
Breakfast Pizza
Breakfast Pizza bagels are a simple and delicious 5-minute breakfast idea that will satisfy your whole family.
Start off by toasting your bagels, then simply scramble some eggs on the stove or in the microwave.
