Christmas can be one of the most magical times of the year, but it can also be one of the most stressful. If it’s not the holiday to-do list (shopping, baking, cleaning, etc.), then it’s the added expense of the gifts, decor, food, and family activities.
Things can add up pretty quickly, so I thought I would try to help make things a little easier on your wallet this holiday season and share a fun and festive holiday savings challenge (with a free printable). This challenge only takes 30 days, but you can repeat it or double up on the numbers to save $400.
Easy Holiday Savings Challenge
This easy 30-day money-saving challenge is perfect for building a small holiday fund without making a huge dent in your budget because you are only taking out a little every day.

Step 1- Choose your saving method
- Set up a separate savings account, or use an existing one.

- Make a Christmas jar and drop in the cash each day.
Step 2- Print out the savings challenge printable
- Make sure to hang it somewhere you can see it so it keeps you accountable. (You can also screensheet and save to your phone so you have the amounts handy.)

Step 3- Start the 30 Day Challenge
- Each day, you will choose an amount from $3 to $10, depending on what you can afford that day. Then, simply cross off the amount you deposited in the bank, or added to your envelope or jar, and in 30 days, you will have saved $200.
- If you want to save $400 instead, you can double the amounts. It’s as easy as that. It’s a super simple way to save for the holidays.
The goal of this challenge was to try and make it as stress-free as possible, as it can be hard to save money at any time of the year, especially at Christmas. But if you can prepare ahead of time, then it makes for a much more enjoyable holiday season for you and your family.
Simple Ways to Save Money Each Day
If you are looking for some ways that you can cut costs so you can have the extra to add to this holiday savings challenge, here are a few things that can help you reach your $200 goal.
- One of the easiest ways to start saving money is to make a grocery budget and start meal planning, so you are only buying what you need instead of making impulse purchases and spending more.
- Use rebate apps or cash-back bonuses you’ve earned toward the challenge.
- Make it a game and have the family look around the house for any spare change. Every little bit adds up.
- Declutter your stuff and sell online or bring it to a consignment shop.
- Skip buying coffee and make it at home.
- Use coupons and transfer the money you saved.
- Stop eating out and pack your lunch instead.
These are just a few ideas to get you started. I hope you find this holiday savings challenge helpful. Don’t forget your free printable (above) to help you stay motivated as you track your progress and watch your Christmas fund grow.
