You Will Need:
- Bread (Texas Toast)
- Butter
- Eggs
- Milk
- Flour
- Sugar (brown and white)
- Vanilla
- Cinnamon
- Salt

How to Make Cinnamon Sugar French Toast
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and milk until the flour has mostly dissolved.
- Add in the eggs and vanilla, sugars, cinnamon, and salt, and then whisk until combined.
- In a smaller bowl, combine your cinnamon sugar mixture and set aside.
- Dip your Texas toast into your egg and milk mixture just until both sides are evenly coated.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat, and add a couple of tablespoons of butter to coat the bottom.
- Cook your French toast for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Remove from the skillet to a plate and butter the top of the French toast, then dip into the cinnamon sugar mixture, shaking off any extra, and transfer to a plate.
- Top with maple syrup and enjoy.
Helpful Tips to Ensure Your French Toast Comes Out Perfectly
- Make sure to use a thick slice of bread (Texas toast, brioche, French, or Italian bread) that is not fresh. It helps if it’s a couple of days old, so it’s not as soft.
- Use flour as it thickens the batter, helping it to stick to the bread, making the French toast soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
- To avoid your French toast tasting “too eggy” use more milk in your batter, and also whisk your batter until everything is well combined. Use a fork to ensure that the batter runs freely through the tines of the fork.
- Only dip the bread in the batter for a few seconds so that it doesn’t get too soggy.
- To make things easier, I like to dip all of the bread in the egg/milk mixture and then set them on a baking sheet so they are ready to cook.
- Prepare your cinnamon sugar mixture and have it ready because once they have been removed from the heat, you will need to add the butter so it melts, and the cinnamon sugar will stick to the French toast.
How to Store French Toast
You can store your French toast in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 2-3 days. To reheat, just pop it in the microwave or put it in a toaster oven.
