If you are like me, then cleaning the bathroom is probably one of the last things you want to do. I know I could think of a hundred better ways to spend my time.

But, as much as I would love to avoid doing it, there is no way around it to keep my home tidy and clean.

So, in order to make cleaning the bathroom easier, I started cleaning it every day instead of letting it build up and found that as long as I am keeping up with it, I can get it done in as little as 5 minutes. Some days it doesn’t even take me that long.

I use this 5-minute bathroom clean as part of my morning cleaning routine which helps keep my home consistently clean all week long.

A few helpful cleaning tips before you begin

  • Make sure you put together a cleaning caddy so all of your cleaning supplies are handy and ready to be used. I like to keep mine under my bathroom sink, making them easy to grab.
  • Establish a weekly cleaning routine so that you can do a more thorough job during the week. (remember this is just a quick clean of the bathroom to keep the essential spots cleaned on a daily basis).
  • Every month schedule a deep clean of your bathroom to make the upkeep of your bathroom even easier.

How to Clean Your Bathroom in 5 Minutes

It may not seem possible but this quick 5-minute routine will have your bathroom sparkling clean in no time.

Set your timers and let’s begin!

Step 1: Pick up Clutter

Start out by picking up anything on the floors such as towels, clothes, etc. Then, move on to the counters and do the same. Put away toothbrushes, toothpaste, make-up, and anything else that has been left out. (1 minute)

A quick tip: Encourage family members to make an effort to clean up messes as they go to reduce the amount of time picking things up before you start to clean.

Step 2: Spray Surfaces

Grab your favorite cleaner, then spray down your counters, sink, and faucets. It’s during this time that I will clean my mirrors and then go back to wipe everything down. You can also use this time to spray down the tub/shower with a daily cleaning spray. (1 minute)

Step 3: Clean the Toilet

Squirt some toilet cleaner in the toilet and let it sit while you disinfect the entire toilet, making sure to wipe the handle, under the seat, and around the tank and base of the toilet. I like to use a disinfecting wipe for this because it’s quick and easy but you can use whatever you would like.

Finish up by giving the toilet a quick swish. (1 minute)

Step 4: Quick Sweep

Give the bathroom a quick sweep or I love using this small vacuum that I store in our bathroom for quick clean-up (we have a cat that has made it his mission to see how much kitty litter he can throw out of his litter box every day). The vacuum has come in so handy for this reason. (1 minute)

Step 5: Finish up

Finally, I will empty the garbage, put out clean hand towels, and replenish the toilet paper if needed. (1 minute)

A quick tip: Always keep extra garbage bags in the bottom of your trash as it saves you so much time.

And that’s it. It’s super simple to keep your bathroom clean every day especially when it only takes 5 minutes to do so. You can keep your home consistently clean and tidy just by forming daily cleaning habits.

Have pets and want a better way to keep your home clean?

Keep in mind, that this probably won’t work for you if your bathroom is a disaster and there is clutter everywhere. Before this 5-minute routine will work effectively it may help to spend a little time decluttering your home. It really doesn’t take as long as you might think and having less stuff makes cleaning a breeze.

Learn the best ways to declutter in your home:

Also, if you haven’t given your bathroom a deep clean in a while it may take you longer. Especially if you are struggling to clean your home because you are unmotivated or feeling overwhelmed by the mess.

The trick to being able to clean your home more efficiently is to always start small and find ways to make it work for you. Just because someone else is successful at doing something one way doesn’t mean that it will work with your situation.

However, what does work is routines because they become habits that will eventually become second nature to you making your life so much easier.
